2024 Local Elections

Members of Calgary Public Teachers, Alberta Teachers' Association Local 38 are hereby notified that NOMINATIONS for positions on the Local Association Executive Committee for the period 2024 July 1 to 2026 June 30 will be received up to 2024 March 18, 1630 hrs. 

Names of Nominees will be posted to the Local Website within one business day after receipt

Any ten members of the Local Association may nominate a candidate who is a member of the Local for:

• President [Nomination form]
• Vice-President (two positions) [Nomination form]
• Treasurer [Nomination form]

Any ten members of a constituent group in the Local Association may nominate a candidate from within the constituent group of which they are a member for:

• Elementary School Based Member Representative (two positions) [Nomination form]
• Junior High School Based Member Representative [Nomination form]
• Senior High School Based Member Representative [Nomination form]

Any ten members of the Local Association may nominate a candidate who is a member of the Local Association as a candidate for:

• Communications Committee Chair [Nomination form]
• Diversity, Equity and Human Rights Committee Chair [Nomination form]
• Political Action Committee Chair [Nomination form]
• Professional Development Committee Chair [Nomination form]
• Teacher Welfare Committee Chair [Nomination form]

Any five teachers who are members of the Professional System Support constituent group in the Calgary Board of Education may nominate a teacher who is also a member of the Professional System Support constituent group as a candidate for:

• Professional System Support Member Representative [Nomination form]

Any five principals who are members of the Local Association may nominate a principal who is a member of the Local Association as a candidate for:

• Principal Member Representative [Nomination form]

Any five substitute teachers who are listed on the Calgary Board of Education substitute teachers' roster for the current school year may nominate a substitute teacher who is a member of the Local as a candidate for:

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS AND DUTIES

The President of the Local is seconded full-time from the Calgary Board of Education. The Teacher Welfare Committee Chairperson is seconded part-time at 0.2FTE. Members of the Executive Committee are expected to attend all regular and extraordinary meetings of the Executive Committee and CSR, as well as General Meetings, functions of the Local, Regional Conferences and the Annual Representative Assembly. Honoraria and kilometrage expenses are provided.
